Nestled in the lap of Kangra Valley, Laka Glacier is surrounded by Dhauladhar range located at a height of 10,600 ft. above sea level. Laka Glacier trek is one of the most offbeat treks of Himachal. The entire trekking route is decorated with dense rustic forest, soul pacifying waterfalls and beautiful Himalayan sights.

Triund and Laka Glacier trek starts from the biggest waterfall in Mcleodganj - Bhagsu Nag. Snow-clad mountains of Himalayas will keep you occupied with their grace throughout the trekking trail. Enjoy the mesmerizing views of Dhauladhar range and the camping experience at the Triund top under the star studded sky. Get the thrilling experience of walking on a snowline and soak in the scenery all around. Spend some time playing with the snow at Laka Got- a small temporary settlement based at a close proximity of Laka Glacier.

DETAILED ITINERARY

  • Start your Laka Glacier trek from Bhagsunag taxi stand, Meet your trek Leader. After the briefing session, start your trek to Triund. 
  • The trek trail is easy except for some stretches and the total trekking distance is 7 km. While on the trek, walk through the dense forests of pine and enjoy the stunning views of the valley.
  • It takes around 5-6 hours to reach Triund top. 
  • Enroute take a pit stop at the famous Magic view cafe.
  • Upon reaching Triund top, enjoy the breathtaking views of Dhauladhar Ranges. 
  • Check-in to camp, freshen up, and have some leisure. 
  • Enjoy the dinner with a bonfire under the sky full of stars. Overnight in the camps.

  • Wake up early and get mesmerized by the awe-inspiring views of Dhauladhar Ranges. 
  • After breakfast, start your further trek to Laka Glacier. It takes 3-4 hours to reach the Laka Got, a temporary shepherd encampment situated at the close proximity of Laka Glacier.
  • On the trail enjoy the scenic views of the snow clad mountains. 
  • Upon reaching the glacier, enjoy a packed lunch while treating your eyes with the beauty of the himalayas.
  • After spending some leisure time and playing with the snow, start your descent back to Triund campsite.
  • After arriving triund top enjoy the mesmerizing sunset with the hot tea.
  • Dinner and overnight stay in the camps.

  • Wake up and enjoy the beautiful sunrise and stunning views of the snow- covered mountains of Dhauladhar.
  • After breakfast, start your downhill trek towards Mcleodganj. 
  • Reach Mcleodganj by afternoon. Bid a warm farewell to the fellow trekkers. 
  • Trek ends here.

  • Beverage: Mineral water bottles, bottled or canned beverages
  • In case if your trek remains incomplete or uninitiated because of "force majeure" or by personal choice after you arrive at the starting point, you will not be able to get a refund, reschedule or replace any services that remain unutilized by you.

CANCELLATION POLICY

  • If cancellation is made 30 days before the date of travel, 25% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees
  • If cancellation is made 15 to 30 days before the date of travel, 50% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees
  • If cancellation is made 0 to 15 days before the date of travel, 100% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.

The difficulty level of the trek is easy to moderate. It’s the best option for beginners and also the most popular trek in India. The trek is not recommended if you are suffering from asthma or other severe respiratory diseases. However, if your physician says you are good to go, you may consider taking this trek.
The ideal time for this trek is during May, June, September and October. The climate during these months remains pleasant during the day and gets a little cold at night. Rainy seasons are also a perfect time for the Triund trek. Even though it is a good time, overnight camping is impossible or would be difficult during this season. During winter months i.e. January, the trek to Laka glacier remains closed due to heavy snowfall.
The distance of Laka Glacier from Triund is approximately 6 km. Depending on your fitness level and speed, the trek should take between 4 to 5 hours.

Usually, we take 22-24 people in one batch including males and females. We need a minimum of 6 people for a fixed departure, but for the customized trip, the group size doesn’t matter.
