Overview

 The trek passes by the stunning Deoriatal Lake and leads you to some truly mesmerizing views of the snow-clad mountains. These three days are only going to be about the captivating natural beauty and exciting challenges. Mountain goers fall in love with this trek, especially for the stunning summit views and warmth of the forest greens. Doesn’t matter if you’re a bird-watcher, nature-lover or photographer, this trek has more than something for everyone.

Situated at a height of 7,800 feet, Deoriatal Lake is surrounded by forests all around. Just next to it lies the Chaukhamba massif, the reflection of which can be seen in the water of the lake; and it looks astonishing. One of your most amazing memories of the entire trip will be camping the first night under a starlit sky. Next in the list of visual treats are the meadows that turn to snowfields on the way to Chopta. As you go further up, some beautiful and mighty peaks appear. You get the best view of these peaks from Chandrashila. The journey continues till you reach the end of the summit stretch at the Tungnath temple.

Day 1: Rishikesh to Chopta

Day 2:Chopta to Tungnath and Chandrashila, and back to Chopta

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1:
Arrive in Chopta

The journey starts in Rishikesh at 9 am in a private vehicle and takes you to the base camp for the trek- Chopta. On your way, don't forget to take pictures of the confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers at Devprayag. Reach Chopta, check in to camps and after freshening up, you can go for a walk around the village. In the evening, enjoy the bonfire and dinner. There will be an overnight stay in camps.

Day 2:
Chopta to Tungnath and Chandrashila, and back to Chopta

Wake up early and let the beautiful sunrise work its magic on you. After a heavy breakfast, head towards Tungnath which is home to the world’s highest Shiva Temple. Continue trekking towards the majestic Chandrashila Peak from where you get a 360° view of the mountains of Kumaon and Garhwal region like Kedarnath Dome, Chaukhamba, Trishul, and Nanda Devi. Start trekking to return to the campsite. Enjoy an appetizing dinner and relax. There will be an overnight stay in camps.

Day 3:
Chopta to Sari Village and Deoria Tal Lake; departure

Wake up and get mesmerized by the breathtaking sunrise once again. Post breakfast, head to Sari Village in a private vehicle. Begin your trek to the Deoria Tal Lake to enjoy the astonishing view. The lake is surrounded by lush greenery & there are snow-covered mountains in the backdrop. Spend some time at the spot and then start trekking back to reach Sari Village. A private vehicle sets off to take you back to Rishikesh where the trip ends.

How to reach?

By Air: Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun serves as the nearest airport to Rishikesh. Visitors can take a direct flight to Dehradun from Mumbai or Delhi or connecting flights from anywhere in India. Local vehicles can be availed from outside the airport to reach Rishikesh by road from Dehradun.

By Train: Rishikesh Junction Railway Station is well-connected to all the surrounding major cities. Visitors can easily find frequent trains to Rishikesh from Delhi and Dehradun.

By Road: Rishikesh is well connected by roads to all major cities and towns, so visitors as per their choice and comfort can take the bus to reach Rishikesh smoothly. Rishikesh is connected to Chandigarh, Delhi, Dehradun, and Nainital through a good network of roads.

Exclusion

The Kedarkantha trek package exclude:

  • Personal essentials
  • (i) Equipment - Gumboots, trekking poles, etc.
  • (ii) Insurance - Personal and travel insurances.
  • (iii) Beverage - Mineral water bottles/bottled or canned beverages
  • (iv) Snacks - Chocolate, dry fruits, protein or nutrition bar.
  • (v) Entertainment - Camera or drone fees.
  • Transportation - The charges of transportation on day 1 and 6 are to be borne and shared between the trekkers.
  • In case if your trek remains incomplete or uninitiated because of "force majeure" or by personal choice after you arrive at the starting point, you will not be able to get a refund, reschedule or replace any services that remain unutilized by you.
  • Any additional cost incurred due to changes in Government Guidelines related to travel/trek/COVID-19 will be borne by the trekkers.
  • Loading and unloading of personnel luggage.
  • Anything which is not included in Inclusion.
  • Any king of emergency evacuation charges

Advisory

  1. Pickup and Drop from base to base: We can arrange pickup for you at additional cost from Gostops Rishikesh at 5 AM. Minimum number of people to avail this service is 2. (Pricing will be updated soon) 

  2. Rent gear: You can reduce your hassle of buying gear like trek pants, jackets, shoes and rent them for the trek at additional cost. (Pricing will be updated soon)

  3. RT PCR negative certification: Mandatory for Gostops treks. Without it you will not be allowed to trek. You are exempted only if you’ve had two doses of vaccine or were infected with COVID-19 in the last three months. We can arrange the test two days prior to the trek at Gostops Rishikesh at additional cost on request

Cancellation Policy

  • If cancellation are made 30 days before the date of travel then 25.0% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees

  • If cancellation are made 15 days to 30 days before the date of travel then 50.0% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees

  • If cancellation are made 0 days to 15 days before the date of travel then 100.0% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees

  • The applicable refund amount will be processed within 10 business days.

Good physical and mental fitness is expected to complete the Trek. Chandrashila Trek is ideal for beginners to familiarize themselves with similar high altitude treks.
We make sure that wholesome and nutritious breakfast, lunch and evening snacks are served. We believe and serve only vegetarian food as it is easy to digest and preferable in high altitudes.
