Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Reach Manali | Overnight in Manali

  • Upon arrival in Manali, check in to the hostel/campsite and freshen up.
  • The rest of the day is for leisure. Get acclimatized to the altitude.
  • Later, head out to explore the local manali. Visit the famous Jogini Waterfall.
  • Dinner and overnight at Manali.

Day 2: Manali - Raoli Thach – ABC Lady Leg

  • Post breakfast, transfer to Raoli Thach, the starting point of the Friendship Peak trek.
  • Trek through the dense forests and soak into the beauty of ridge patches that surround the way.
  • On the way to ABC, spot the Bhoj Patar ridge and learn the history behind it.
  • Upon reaching the campsite, freshen up and explore the surroundings that give you an idea why is it called Lady leg.
  • Dinner and overnight in camps.

Day 3: Move to Summit Camp | Recce of the summit

  • Post breakfast, start your trek to summit camp.
  • Upon reaching the summit camp, get ready for the orientation programme for Friendship Peak.
  • In the training programme, learn to use equipment such as ice-ax, crampons and roping up on the snow patches.
  • Later in the evening, explore the surroundings and calm your body.
  • Have your dinner and retire for the day.

Day 4: Summit Attempt

  • Today, wake up early at 2 am in the morning and post breakfast, put on your gears and embark on the remarkable adventure.
  • After a long and soul filling adventure trek, reach Summit at around 10-11 am in the morning.
  • Spend some quality time at the summit and after sometime, make our way back to the base camp.
  • Have a hot and fresh dinner and freshen up. Overnight sleep in the tents will mark the end of this day.

Day 5: Reserve Day For Summit

  • A leisure day to calm the tired body. Explore the surroundings and indulge yourself in clicking some beautiful pictures with the majestic views of snow clad mountains of Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges.
  • Play with the snow and make a snowman.
  • Dinner and overnight stay under the sky full of stars in camps.

Day 6: Back to ABC Lady Leg

  • After a fulfilling breakfast, bid adieu to the base camp and trek down to the ABC Lady leg.
  • The trek is moderate with few steep descents. We will break for lunch halfway down the day’s trail.
  • Upon reaching the campsite, have dinner and retire for the day.

Day 7: ABC – Raoli Thach – Solang Nala – Manali

  • Wake up to a beautiful sunrise and post breakfast, start your trek back to Raoli Thach.
  • Today will mark the last day of the trek to Friendship Peak where you will return to Solang valley and then drive back again to Manali.
  • Reach Manali by evening. Trek ends with beautiful memories.

How to reach?

By Air: The nearest airport is at Bhuntar, located approximately 50 km away from Manali. Domestic flights connect Bhuntar with Delhi and Chandigarh. Once at the airport, you can take a taxi to Manali.

By Train: The closest train station to Manali is Ambala Cantt, which is 200 km away. Another option is to get a train to Chandigarh, which is 250 km away. Ambala Cantt is on the Delhi Amritsar route.

By Road: Roads connect Manali to different places including Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun and Ambala. There are several private buses as well that connect the hill station with different part of the state.

Make sure to carry warm and comfortable clothing as temperature can drop. Wardrobe essentials like heavy woolen and fleece clothes, rain-proof jackets, sunglasses, wind-proof jackets, thermal inner-wear. A sturdy backpack with a plastic or waterproof lining. Trekking shoes, snow boots, trekking poles. moisturizers, chapsticks. torch, water bottle, extra polythene bags for wet clothes, and a whistle.
Consumption of liquor and smoking is not advisable on high altitude treks. The use of these substances dehydrates the body easily and makes it difficult for trekkers to complete the stretches.
