Prashar Lake is located at an altitude of 8956 ft in Kullu Valley surrounded by Dhauladhar ranges. The lake is considered to be sacred as Maharishi Parashar is said to have meditated there. The lake is famous for Prashar Rishi temple, situated right next to the lake and is known for its Himachali architecture. The trek to Prashar Lake is an ideal trek for beginners who are looking for a perfect weekend getaway in the short duration of time.

The Prashar Lake trek starts from Bagi Village located at a short distance from Mandi. Pass through dense oak forests and various waterfalls with the beauty and peacefulness of the Himalayas. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Mandi to Bagi Village and trek to Prashar Lake

  • Pickup from Mandi bus stand at 9:00 am in the morning and transfer to Bagi Village.
  • Upon arrival at Bagi, freshen up and have breakfast and after group induction and briefing session start your Prashar Lake trek.
  • The trek is 9 km long with gradual incline and easy trail.
  • On the trail walk through the dense forest of pine, oak and rhododendron trees and enjoy the beautiful views of Dhauladhar ranges.
  • Upon reaching the campsite, freshen up and get ready to pay homage to the ancient temple of Rishi Prashar.
  • From the campsite, get stunned by the panoramic 180-degree views of Pir Panjal, Dhauladhar, and Kinnaur mountain ranges. 
  • Enjoy dinner with a bonfire under the star studded sky.
  • Retire for the night in camps.

Day 2: Prashar Lake to Bagi Village and drive to Mandi

  • Wake up early in the morning and enjoy the beautiful sunrise with a hot and fresh breakfast.
  • Prashar Lake weather remains pleasant in the morning.
  • After breakfast, begin your trek down to Bagi Village.
  • On arrival at Bagi, drive back to Mandi.
  • Upon reaching Mandi bid a farewell to fellow travelers and guide.

How to reach?

By Air: The nearest airport is at Bhuntar, located approximately 50 kilometres away from Manali. Domestic flights connect Bhuntar with Delhi and Chandigarh. Once at the airport, you can take a taxi to Manali.

By Train: The closest railway station to Mandi is Joginder Nagar, which is 55 km away. It takes around 1 and half hour to reach Mandi. Taxis are easily available from Joginder Nagar to reach Mandi.

By Road: You can reach Mandi from Delhi, Palampur, Dharamshala by buses run by HPTDC or by private operators. Private buses also connect Delhi or Chandigarh to Mandi.

  • In case if your trek remains incomplete or uninitiated because of "force majeure" or by personal choice after you arrive at the starting point, you will not be able to get a refund, reschedule or replace any services that remain unutilized by you.
  • Any additional cost incurred due to changes in Government Guidelines related to travel/trek/COVID-19 will be borne by the trekkers.

  1. Rent gear: You can reduce the hassle of buying gear like trek pants, jackets, shoes and rent them for the trek at an additional cost.

  2. Guests must be vaccinated with both doses of Covid vaccine.

  3. The organization reserves the rights to modify the trek during any emergencies or natural calamities.

  4. In unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, the trek may get canceled or altered. In such cases, the operator will try to provide with an alternate option. However, a cash refund will not be applicable in this situation.

Cancellation Policy

  • If cancellation is made 30 days before the date of travel, 25% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees
  • If cancellation is made 15 to 30 days before the date of travel, 50% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees
  • If cancellation is made 0 to 15 days before the date of travel, 100% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees
  • The applicable refund amount will be processed within 10 business days

The start and end point of this trek is Bagi village which is situated at a distance of 127 km from Manali.
The trek is a beginner-level trek and anyone with an average fitness routine can easily do this trek. Although someone with a serious medical condition like heart disease or breathing problem should consult a doctor beforehand.
