The entire trekking route is decorated with dense rustic forest, soul pacifying waterfalls and beautiful Himalayan sights.

Triund and Laka Glacier trek starts from the biggest waterfall in Mcleodganj - Bhagsu Nag. Snow-clad mountains of Himalayas will keep you occupied with their grace throughout the trekking trail. Enjoy the mesmerizing views of Dhauladhar range and the camping experience at the Triund top under the star studded sky. Get the thrilling experience of walking on a snowline and soak in the scenery all around. Spend some time playing with the snow at Laka Got- a small temporary settlement based at a close proximity of Laka Glacier.

Detailed Itinerary

 Day 1: Mcleodganj to Triund

  • Start your Laka Glacier trek from Bhagsunag taxi stand, Meet your trek Leader. After the briefing session, start your trek to Triund. 
  • The trek trail is easy except for some stretches and the total trekking distance is 7 km. While on the trek, walk through the dense forests of pine and enjoy the stunning views of the valley.
  • It takes around 5-6 hours to reach Triund top. 
  • Enroute take a pit stop at the famous Magic view cafe.
  • Upon reaching Triund top, enjoy the breathtaking views of Dhauladhar Ranges. 
  • Check-in to camp, freshen up, and have some leisure. 
  • Enjoy the dinner with a bonfire under the sky full of stars. Overnight in the camps

Day 2: Triund to Laka Glacier and back to Triund campsite

  • Wake up early and get mesmerized by the awe-inspiring views of Dhauladhar Ranges. 
  • After breakfast, start your further trek to Laka Glacier. It takes 3-4 hours to reach the Laka Got, a temporary shepherd encampment situated at the close proximity of Laka Glacier.
  • On the trail enjoy the scenic views of the snow clad mountains. 
  • Upon reaching the glacier, enjoy a packed lunch while treating your eyes with the beauty of the himalayas.
  • After spending some leisure time and playing with the snow, start your descent back to Triund campsite.
  • After arriving triund top enjoy the mesmerizing sunset with the hot tea.
  • Dinner and overnight stay in the camps.

Day 3: Trek Down

  • Wake up and enjoy the beautiful sunrise and stunning views of the snow- covered mountains of Dhauladhar.
  • After breakfast, start your downhill trek towards Mcleodganj. 
  • Reach Mcleodganj by afternoon. Bid a warm farewell to the fellow trekkers. 
  • Trek ends here.

How to reach?

By Air: Gaggal Airport or Kangra Airport at Dharamshala is about 20 km away from McLeod Ganj and is well connected to Delhi, Kullu and Chandigarh. Airlines like Air India Regional, SpiceJet Airlines operate regular flights from these cities for Dharmshala. After reaching the airport, traveler can hire taxis or take buses to reach their destination, which takes around an hour.

By Train: Pathankot Railway Station, situated approximately 90 km away, is the closest broad gauge railhead serving those headed to McLeod Ganj. Some of the popular trains available.

By Road: A number of state owned and private buses connect McLeod Ganj with other cities like Delhi (500 km), Chandigarh (250 km) and Dharamshala (20 km). In New Delhi, most of the buses leave from the Kashmiri Gate ISBT and Majnu-ka-Tilla (a Tibetian camp). Deluxe buses of Himachal Pradesh Tourism are also available from Himachal Bhawan. One can also drive to McLeod Ganj from Delhi via NH 1, a journey of about 10 hours.

  • Any additional cost incurred due to changes in Government Guidelines related to travel/trek/COVID-19 will be borne by the trekkers.

  1. Rent gear: You can reduce the hassle of buying gear like trek pants, jackets, shoes and rent them for the trek at an additional cost.

  2. Guests must be vaccinated with both doses of Covid vaccine.

  3. The organization reserves the rights to modify the trek during any emergencies or natural calamities.

  4. In unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, the trek may get canceled or altered. In such cases, the operator will try to provide with an alternate option. However, a cash refund will not be applicable in this situation.

Cancellation Policy

  • If cancellation is made 30 days before the date of travel, 25% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees

  • If cancellation is made 15 to 30 days before the date of travel, 50% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees

  • If cancellation is made 0 to 15 days before the date of travel, 100% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.

The difficulty level of the trek is easy to moderate. It’s the best option for beginners and also the most popular trek in India. The trek is not recommended if you are suffering from asthma or other severe respiratory diseases. However, if your physician says you are good to go, you may consider taking this trek.
The ideal time for this trek is during May, June, September and October. The climate during these months remains pleasant during the day and gets a little cold at night. Rainy seasons are also a perfect time for the Triund trek. Even though it is a good time, overnight camping is impossible or would be difficult during this season. During winter months i.e. January, the trek to Laka glacier remains closed due to heavy snowfall.
The distance of Laka Glacier from Triund is approximately 6 km. Depending on your fitness level and speed, the trek should take between 4 to 5 hours.
