Dayara Bugyal trek is the only winter trek with the biggest snow expanse in Uttarakhand. Imagine yourself standing in the middle of a huge meadow at a height of staggering 11,950 ft, that is what this trek really is. This breathtaking alpine meadow with a magnificent canvas of peaks like Bandarpoonch, Mt Jaunli, Mt. Shivling, DKD2, and many more is nothing short of a breathtaking experience for the trekkers.
The trek starts from Raithal, a peaceful village near Uttarkashi. The trail consists of huge green grassland which turns into a white snow carpet in the winters. With a wide range of verdant valleys, shining streams, and blooming flora, Dayara Bugyal trail will keep on amazing you throughout the trek.

Winter- Dec to Feb: 8 to 12 degree in day, 0 to -8 degree at night

Autumn- Sept to Nov: 10 to 18 degree in day, 0 to -2 degree at night

Dayara Bugyal trek distance- Dayara Bugyal trek route is 17 km long. The distance in Dayara Bugyal trek is evenly distributed on all 3 days of trekking. Trek for 5 km from Raithal to Gui through the forest area that becomes denser as you reach Gui campsite. On your next day, trek to Dayara Bugyal from Gui and back to Gui campsite through the dense forests of oak and rhododendron in the span of 5-6 hours covering a distance of 7 km. From Gui, cover a distance of 5 km as you reach Raithal.

The altitude gain throughout the span of 3 days would be as follows:-
On the first day of the Dayara Bugyal package, you will reach Raithal which is located at a height of 6000 ft. Next day, cover an altitude of almost 3500 ft as you trek to Gui campsite located at a height of 9500 ft. Climb to a soaring altitude of 11,950 ft to reach the Dayara top on Day 3 of Dayara Bugyal trek package.
Dayara Bugyal trek difficulty level- Dayara Bugyal trek is a perfect trek for beginners as the difficulty level is easy to moderate.
The trek starts from Raithal Village and the initial 1 km stretch is a little steep. Even though the trail is well-laid, it will test your stamina making it excitingly challenging. The rest distance is easily covered in the span of 3 to 4 hours as you walk through the dense forest which opens up leading to vast meadows blossomed with colors. The climb to Dayara top is steep towards the end. In winters, the snow makes the trek even more challenging but the views of magnificent peaks make it all worth it.

Dayara Bugyal trek in Autumn (October and November)
During these months the weather in Dayara Bugyal is clearest. You can easily witness the sharp mountain views and maple leaves turning fiery red. The day time will be sunny with a temperature ranging from 10-15 degree Celsius while night temperature will be around 2-10 degree Celsius during autumn.
Dayara Bugyal trek in Winters (December to February)
Dayara Bugyal is considered to be one of the best winter treks. It starts to snow during these months on the trek. The trekking trail is covered in snow with snowflakes loosely hanging from pine trees offering a hint of Christmasy feel. Dayara Bugyal temperature varies from 8 °C and 12 °C during the daytime and temperature drops to -5 °C and -10 °C during nighttime. During these months, the trek to Dayara Bugyal boasts thick blankets of snow which makes it ideal for skiers.
Dayara Bugyal in Spring (March and April)
The snows start to melt during these months while the grass begins to turn green in the meadows. Dayara Bugyal temperature ranges between 3 °C and 17 °C during daytime and will drop to 0 °C during nights. Spring is a great time to experience color changing contrasts of the vast meadows.

By Air: Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun that is 20km away from the city. Visitors can take a direct flight to Dehradun from Mumbai or Delhi or connecting flights from anywhere in India. Local vehicles can be availed from outside the airport to reach Dehradun by road from that will take around 40-45 mins to reach the city depending upon the traffic.
By Train: Dehradun Junction Railway Station is well-connected to all the major cities. The Dehradun Railway Station is located 1-2 kilometers away from the city centre and should take you only ten minutes, depending on traffic. Visitors can easily find frequent trains from Delhi to Dehradun.
By Road: Dehradun is well connected by roads to all major cities and towns like Delhi, Haridwar, and Rishikesh. It's situated at a 6 hours drive from Delhi.
