Ways To Reach: Modes Of Transportation
You can reach Rishikesh by plane, train or simply taking a road trip and driving up there. Rishikesh is not directly connected to any airport or railway station, however you can reach there by traveling to neighboring airports and railway stations.
By Air
The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun which is 23 km from goSTOPS Rishikesh (Tapovan). A cab from the airport till goSTOPS usually costs 1500 INR. You may also walk up to the main road (900 meters away) and can catch an intercity bus (Dehradun-Rishikesh route) from the highway.
By
Train
The nearest railway stations are Haridwar and Dehradun. While Dehradun is 55 km from goSTOPS, Haridwar is 35 km and a taxi from these two stations costs INR 1500 and INR 1200-1700 respectively. You may also take a bus from there. Check out the 'bus section' for the same.
By Bus
Regular buses ply to and fro Rishikesh from major cities including Delhi, Roorkee, Haridwar and Dehradun.
Dehradun ISBT: A bus takes 1.5 hours for the 55 km journey.
Dehradun railway station: The bus stand is around 8 km from here. You may hop on a bus to Rishikesh which takes around 2 hours for the 62 km journey.
Haridwar: There is a bus stand 140 meters away. Board a bus to Rishikesh which takes around 1 hour for the 35 km journey.
The buses could take you to 2 deboarding points: Rishikesh bus stand (recommended), Nepali Farm (not advisable during night travel)
Rishikesh bus stand: It is 5 km from goSTOPS (Tapovan) and a reserved auto takes INR 200-300 while a sharing takes INR 50-60 till Lakshman Chowk. From there, you may walk up to the hostel which is around a km away.
From Nepali Farm: It is 19 km from Rishikesh bus stand. A sharing auto takes INR 150 while a reserved one takes INR 500-600. You may also take a reserved auto directly to the hostel which will cost INR 600-700.
If coming via personal vehicle, you might need to take the longer route from Rishikesh bus stand and the nearest landmark is Royal Arcade, Green Hill. Feel free to use this location for navigation.
