Ways To Reach: Modes Of Transportation
You can reach Manali by plane, train or simply taking a road trip and driving up there. Manali is not directly connected to any airport or railway station, however you can reach there by traveling to neighboring airports and railway stations and then taking a bus/taxi for the rest of the journey.
By Air
Although the nearest airport to Manali is in Bhuntar, we wouldn’t recommend it as there is only one flight in a week from Delhi. The unreliable weather conditions also make it a difficult option to travel. A convenient way to arrive here is to reach Delhi via flight and then take a bus/taxi to Manali. But if you decide to come via Bhuntar, you may take a private taxi from the airport.
By
Train
The nearest railway station is Jogindernagar, 146 km away from Manali, but there aren’t a lot of regular trains from there so we recommend coming via train till Ambala Cantt which is 200 km away from Manali and covering the last leg of journey via bus or taxi.
By Taxi
You may also take a private taxi to reach here.
From Bhuntar: Bhuntar is 52 km or 2-3 hours away and a taxi will cost 1500-2000 INR
From Jogindernagar: Take a cab from Jogindernagar which is 146 km away. The cab will cost 3000-4000 INR
From Ambala Cantt: Ambala Cantt is 350 km away and a taxi will cost 3500-4000 INR
From Delhi: Taking a cab from Delhi is also an option although it will cost 6000-8000 INR
By Bus
Himachal Pradesh is well connected to other states through SRTC and private buses.
From Delhi: Delhi is 550 km or 13 hours away and there are plenty of options (both private and SRTC buses) to choose from.
Ambala: Regular bus service is available from Ambala which is 350 km or 9.5 hours away.
Chandigarh: Hop on any bus from Chandigarh which is 315 km or 8-9 hours away.
The exact travel time may change depending on the weather conditions.
The buses from here take you to one of the below mentioned drop off points-

Private bus parking: Our hostel is 2.5 km away from here and a taxi costs 300-400 INR whereas an auto costs around 200 INR. It can take up to 30 minutes, depending on the weather/traffic.

Government bus stand: It is adjacent to the private bus parking so you can follow the directions/steps mentioned above.
You can get the auto/taxi from Mall road which is around 600 meters from the private bus parking and the Government bus stand.
Ask the auto/taxi driver to escort you to “Dragon Chowk” which is around 30 meters from our hostel. If you are looking up the Dragon Chowk on Google maps, look for “Dragon Inn” or “Oakland House”.
